Fluoropolymer Heat Shrink
-
Fluoropolymer PTFE is used in applications of extreme electrical, thermal, and chemical environments. Very lubricious, chemically resistant and inert. Excellent dielectric insulating properties. The extreme chemical inertness of PTFE heat shrink tubing combined with its high temperature resistance makes it an ideal product for use as a strain relief, fiber optic splice cover and whenever an inert, high temperature shrink tubing is required. Operating temperature range is -250°C to 260ºC.
Heat shrinkable PTFE tubing requires approximately 650°F +/- 25°F (340°C +/- 5°C) to recover. PTFE begins to shrink at 650°F (340°C) and completes its recovery during the cooling cycle. The mandrel being covered must be able to withstand this range of temperature. We recommend preheating large-diameter mandrels and giving sufficient time for recovery. Even heating and cooling of all sides will provide the best results.
PTFE heat shrink tubing conforms to SAE-AMS-DTL-23053/12

Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) heat shrink tubing is a widely used, lower cost alternative to PTFE. FEP has similar dielectric and frictional properties to PTFE. Although PTFE has superior chemical resistance to FEP, FEP can be used in most applications suited for PTFE. The major difference between the two materials is the continuous use temperature. FEP heat shrinkable tubing is suitable for continuous use at temperatures up to 204°C. Another advantage FEP has over PTFE is its much lower shrink temperature. While PTFE needs a temperature of over 300°C to shrink it, FEP heat shrink can shrink as low as 190°C. This can be a significant advantage when used in conjunction with temperature sensitive components.
Heat shrinkable FEP tubing requires 375° F to shrink. At approximately 350° F FEP will go into the gel state and begins to shrink at 375° F. FEP heat shrink will only require a small degree of recovery.- Color: Natural. Other colors quoted on request.

PRODUCT 211RC FEP Heat Shrinkable Roll Cover
FEP Fluoropolymer heat shrinkable roll covers are specifically engineered to extend roller life and eliminate roller build-up and picking. Roll covers are used to reduce down time in a wide spectrum of industries including textile, packaging, printing, photographic and food.
FEP's unique properties include almost universal chemical resistance, zero moisture absorption, and the best anti-stick / release surface possible.
Most materials do not adhere to FEP, those materials that may "cling" to the surface are easily wiped off with a damp cloth. Nothing releases adhesives and glue as well as FEP and no other surface prevents picking and build-up like FEP.- FEP roll covers are produced with a .020 " wall thickness for rollers from ½ to12 inches in diameter and lengths up to 10 feet.
- FEP's unique design produces a cover with no surface imperfections and greater flex life, which is especially important on rubber rollers.
- Specifications: ASTM D2902 TYPE II
- FEP Shrink Temperature: 350°F / 177°C
- FEP Continuous Use Temperature Range: -100 to 400°F / -75°C to 200°C

Product 210/211 is constructed with an exterior of heat shrink PTFE and an inner layer of FEP. It is easy to apply, and is designed to provide a tight, moisture-proof bond over wires, cables, connectors, splices, terminals, etc. The PTFE shrinks tightly over inserted parts when the covered section is heated, while the FEP melts and flows into a solid or near-solid encapsulation with a fit so tight that it can withstand the most severe stresses involving pull or vibration. This product provides all the outstanding electrical, chemical, and mechanical properties of PTFE, including a service temperature up to 450° F (232° C).
